Brazil’s central bank has cut interest rates by 100 basis points as it pushes ahead with a rapid easing of monetary policy following a precipitous fall in inflation.

The central bank cut interest rates to 8.25 per cent, the eighth cut in the nearly year-long easing cycle, which comes as Brazil’s economy has emerged from its longest recession on record.
