Speaking during a press conference on Monday (8 January), Finance Minister Henrique Meirelles reinforced the point that the priority of the Brazilian government is to approve the pension reform in order to ensure the sustainability of the public budget.

“The priority now is to resolve the country's fiscal situation. The vote on pension reform is our focus, it is our priority," he said, assessing that the changes in pension rules are a fundamental milestone for the Brazilian economy.

According to the minister, approving the reform before the end of 2018 is necessary for the country's financial planning for the coming years. "We have a wide range of reforms underway, and our expectation is to deliver a better country from the fiscal point of view," he said. Read Full Article
