Temer defends discussion on state debt with BNDES

During a dinner this Tuesday (13) that brought 18 state governors together in the Presidential Palace, President Michel Temer defended that the renegotiation of the states' debts with the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) benefit all parties involved.

"The central theme of this meeting is to find a path that is healthy for the states and that is also not harmful to the BNDES and the Federal Government," he said. In addition to the governors, the dinner was also attended by members of the cabinet and BNDES president Paulo Rabello de Castro.

According to Temer, the BNDES has begun mapping out the situation of the states in relation to the bank. "There are debts there that are guaranteed by the Federal Government, which have a certain treatment, and debts which are not guaranteed by the Federal Government, which have a different treatment," he explained.
