Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chao to open first Michigan location in November

Popular Brazilian steakhouse chain Fogo de Chao is opening its first Michigan restaurant in Troy on Nov. 6.

The two-level restaurant, located at 301 W. Big Beaver Road, will offer a variety of fire-roasted meats, including: ribeye, double-cut lamb chops and house-specialty Picanha, "the most prized Brazilian steak," the company announced Thursday.

Thiago Moreira, who grew up in Cidade Gaucha, a small town in Southern Brazil, will be the head chef, according to a news release.

"We're excited to bring our truly authentic dining experience from Southern Brazil to Troy and metro Detroit," said Larry Johnson, CEO of Fogo de Chao, in a news release. "We believe our unique, award-winning experience will be a great addition to metro Detroit's growing and dynamic restaurant scene."

Fogo de Chao was founded in Brazil and expanded to the U.S. in 1997. The chain has 49 locations around the world.

Before the Troy opening, the closest location to Michigan is in Chicago. Read Full Article
