Scientists from Brazil and the United States create application for global monitoring of wheat disease

Researchers at the University of Passo Fundo (UPF), Embrapa and University of Kansas (KU) have developed an application to encourage crop surveillance and to establish a database of wheat blight epidemics around the world. Pic-a-Wheat-Field ("photograph a wheat field" in free translation) can be accessed by mobile phone.

Just download the application on your smartphone (iOS or Android system) and register a user. The intention is that in the coming months, the application will interact with Sisalert, a technology developed by Embrapa that analyzes climatic data and assesses the risks of epidemics for crops.
