BrazilFoundation Announces New President & CEO as Leadership Transition Begins

New York, NY – June 16, 2025 — The BrazilFoundation Board of Directors has announced a transition in executive leadership, appointing Tiffany Kearney as the organization’s new President & CEO, effective today. Kearney succeeds Rebecca Tavares, who is retiring after six impactful years at the helm.
Under Tavares’ leadership, BrazilFoundation experienced significant growth, tripling its revenue and reinforcing its position as a leading philanthropic institution dedicated to advancing social transformation in Brazil. Tavares will remain with BrazilFoundation as a senior advisor through September 30, 2025, to ensure a smooth and strategic transition.
Kearney steps into the role with a strong background in international development, philanthropy, and cross-sector collaboration. She has served as BrazilFoundation’s Director of Development and previously held leadership roles at AID for AIDS International, focusing on development and government relations. Her deep connection to Brazil, having lived in Rio de Janeiro for over a decade, combined with over 20 years of experience across the Americas, positions her well to lead the organization into its next chapter.
Kearney brings extensive expertise in strategic planning, communications, partnerships, and impact investing, with a master’s degree in International Relations from Boston University’s Pardee School of Global Studies.
