The Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Foundation for Amazon Sustainability (FAS), was pleased to host a breakfast seminar on the pivotal role of the Amazon rainforest as a global climate regulator, as attention shifts from COP28 in Dubai to COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
Professor Virgilio Viana examined how the Amazon, home to thousands of people, can drive significant progress in combating climate change. With COP30 on the horizon, discussion focused on strategies to protect and restore the Amazon’s ecosystems, tackle deforestation, and integrate traditional knowledge into climate solutions. By connecting the insights from Dubai with actionable plans for the Amazon, the program aims to outline a clear path toward effective climate action and sustainable development.
Speaker: Professor Virgilio Viana, General Superintendent, FAS (Foundation for Amazon Sustainability)
