On July 9, 2025, President Trump announced a sweeping 50% tariff on goods imported from Brazil into the United States, set to take effect on August 1st. In response, President Lula pledged reciprocal measures. With the United States as Brazil’s second largest trading partner, the move could disrupt supply chains, affect countless businesses, and jeopardize decades of bilateral cooperation and economic integration.
In light of these rapidly evolving developments, the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce hosted a webinar examining the potential impact of the tariffs on the Brazil-US economic partnership and on the broader commercial relationship built over decades. The discussion brought together trade experts, legal analysts, and industry leaders to explore the potential implications of these measures for businesses on both sides of the hemisphere.
