The Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce hosted a luncheon to present the Special Merit Award to H.E. General Eduardo Antonio Fernandes, Military Adviser to the Permanent Mission of Brazil to the United Nations.
General Eduardo Antonio Fernandes began his military career in 1976 at Escola Preparatória de Cadetes do Exército in Campinas, Brazil, and graduated from Academia Militar das Agulhas Negras (AMAN) in 1982. He specialized in War Material Maintenance at Escola de Material Bélico and later completed the United States Command and General Staff course at Fort Leavenworth, KS. Over his 41-year career, he has served in various leadership and instructional roles, including as an instructor at AMAN, EsAO, and ECEME. He also held international posts, including Peacekeeper for UNAVEM III in Angola and Liaison Officer to the U.S. Army TRADOC.
In command positions, General Fernandes led the 16th Logistics Battalion, the Army Logistics Support Base, and the Officer Training School. He served as 3rd Deputy Chief of the Army General Staff, Chief of the Army Doctrine Center, and Deputy Logistics Commander. Promoted to General, he has held key leadership roles including Military Commander of the Southeast, Chief of Strategic Affairs and Chief of Joint Operations of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces, and Logistics Commander of the Brazilian Army.
