Job description

The Litigation & Government Enforcement Practice Group of Baker McKenzie seeks an experienced Paralegal in the Miami, FL and New York office. The Litigation Paralegal is responsible for overseeing the production and maintenance of litigation documents and evidentiary materials, organizing documents, and assisting counsel to prepare for depositions, hearings, trials or other courtroom proceedings. Paralegals must also be experienced with trial preparation and the handling of exhibits at trials and hearings. Paralegals conduct research, must be familiar with Lexis/Nexis databases, and be proficient with electronic research and analysis of ESI. Paralegals also research case issues, provide answers and objections to written discovery, and maintain the calendar for all deadlines under the applicable rules of procedure and local rules.

The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years litigation experience (trial experience required) and be fluent in Portuguese. In addition, the candidate should possess a strong understanding of the e-Discovery process, including the ability to manipulate and run database software. The candidate will have the ability to interact with client representatives to gather documents, information, and even to assist with witness interviews and meetings. Working knowledge of litigation software, including Relativity, is required. Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience required, and Paralegal certificate is preferred.
