The Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce is proud to spotlight an inspiring story of international collaboration and human resilience.
Recently, Fox News featured the Medulloblastoma Initiative (MBI) and its pioneering work to advance pediatric brain cancer research during an interview with Brazilian entrepreneur and MBI Founder Fernando Goldsztein. This recognition highlights how a Brazilian-led effort is gaining international attention and reshaping the future of pediatric cancer treatment.
Founded less than four years ago, MBI began as a father’s mission to save his son Frederico from a rare brain tumor. Today, MBI has evolved into a global research alliance that brings together institutions in the US, Brazil and beyond — all united by a singular goal: to find a cure for pediatric medulloblastoma and bring hope to families worldwide.
As highlighted, MBI has achieved much in very little time:
- Starting this fall, MBI will begin preparing for multiple clinical trials of CAR T-cell therapies aimed at halting the growth of Group 4 medulloblastoma tumors.
- To speed CAR T-cell research, two additional US hospitals (Seattle Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) have joined the 14 labs participating in the research Consortium funded by MBI and led by Dr. Roger J. Packer of Children’s National Hospital.
- Two MBI-supported clinical trials are underway: MATCHPOINT, focusing on cellular immunotherapy combined with a drug that reduces a tumor’s self-defense mechanisms; and a trial testing a novel mRNA vaccine, which aims to “wake up” the immune system against brain tumors.
The Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce is committed to strengthening ties between Brazil and the United States – not only in trade and investment, but in science, innovation, and human impact. MBI exemplifies this spirit of cooperation and the profound difference it can make, offering real hope to families confronting some of the most challenging diagnoses.
We invite you to learn more about this remarkable initiative and consider supporting MBI’s mission. Every dollar raised goes directly to advancing research and clinical trials.
