The Transamerica Corporation (subsidiary of Aegon NV) is a private holding company for various international firms offering life and health insurance, investments, and retirement services, with 25,000 employees. Chief Financial Officer/Chief Risk Officer (dual reporting to CRO Corporate and CEO Latin America) As head of finance and risk, directs and oversees the financial functions and growth initiatives for Latin America and manages extensive Latin America offshore operations. Responsible for risk evaluation and management, sourcing and assessing merger and acquisition opportunities in Latin America, as well as providing executive guidance on licensing agreements and long-term strategic initiatives. Cross-functional responsibilities to corporate and Latin America operations with oversight for approximately 150 indirect reports in the Latin American joint ventures. • Instrumental in embedding the Aegon (parent company) economic framework into the joint venture organizations of Mongeral Aegon and Akaan Transamerica. Merged the risk management and business decision-making processes, with positive results. • Provided oversight and advice in the formation of the WinSocial Project (Brazil), which created a new completely digital company, disruptive in the wellness and health insurance space, offering life, health, and pension plans with simplified information and easier access, attracting a younger population and those previously excluded from traditional insurance coverage. • Supervision of a greenfield operation resulting in the creation of Akaan Transamerica in Mexico, a startup asset management company, offering a wide variety of Mexican and international mutual funds, as well as diversified global investment solutions.

Mongeral Aegon Seguros e Previdência - 01.2005 until 01.2016 - 11 years

One of Brazil’s top independent insurers providing insurance and pension services in Latin America, insuring approximately 1.8 million. The private company is part of Dutch insurer Aegon NV, which, in 2009, acquired 50% of the company. Chief Financial Officer (reporting to the CEO and the Board) Working in conjunction with the CEO, drove the growth of the company, leading a team of five direct reports and 108 indirect reports. Set the financial groundwork and oversaw the partial acquisition of Mongeral by Aegon in 2009. • Negotiated and gained approval for joint venture agreement with Bancoob (Banco Cooperativo do Brasil SA), the largest Brazilian cooperative system, with $13 billion in total assets, 4.4 million clients, and 2,910 sales/services distribution points. This joint venture resulted in the creation of the first life insurance entity within the cooperative system (SICOOB Seguradora SA). • Together with the CEO, led the negotiations and the execution of the sale of 50% of the shares to Aegon Group in 2009. Managed the technical team in the due diligence and assimilation process. Implementation of the sale completed successfully and on time after 1.5 years. Since the inception of the partnership with Aegon (2009 - 2019), sales grew by an average of 20% per year, and total premiums increased from $150 million to $500 million. Capital insured rose close to 800%, to approximately $100 billion. • Created, structured, and managed the company’s financial areas – Financial Planning/Analysis, Management Reporting, Expense Control, Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Accounts Payable and Receivable, Asset Management, Legal, Compliance and Audit, Procurement, and Actuarial. In addition, created MAI – Mongeral Aegon Investments – as a separate company. • In partnership with the CEO, negotiated and executed the purchase of the individual insurance operations of Icatu Hartford Insurance by Mongeral Seguros (including portfolio, customers, employees, infrastructure and sales team). Sales subsequently grew over 52%, and premiums over 43%, significantly contributing to the company’s growth. • Implemented a payroll credit operation in the profit-sharing model, which was a paradigm shift in the insurance industry. Negotiated financial partnership with the major private Brazilian bank. • Realized expense efficiencies by implementing monitoring processes – reports, systems and tools to identify, manage and control acquisition, maintenance and overhead expenses. The analyses and implemented controls resulted in bringing the expenses-to-revenues ratio from 40.5% in 2005 to 26% in 2015 with direct positive impact on the capital/profits.

Icatu Hartford Seguros - 01.1996 until 12.2004 - 8 years and 11 months

Major Brazilian independent insurer and capitalization company. A private company, 50% owned by Hartford Life. Chief Financial Officer (reporting to the President and the Board) Icatu Hartford Life, Pension and Capitalization (2002 - 2004) Assumed financial leadership of all the businesses within the Icatu Hartford Group at a time of uncertainty. Led the reassessment and reorganization of financial controls. Supervised seven direct reports with an indirect team of 100. • Provided strategic thought and execution leadership in the restructuring of the financial areas. Realized significant cost reduction implementing a base zero budget project. Instrumental in the formation of Icatu Hartford Administradora de Recursos, an asset management company. • Evaluated the viability of new acquisitions, recommending the purchase of the Brazilian Nationwide pension funds administration, and the purchase of the Brazilian subsidiary of Canada Life. Chief Financial Officer (reporting the President and Board) Icatu Hartford Capitalization (1998 - 2001) Designated to be part of the executive team to form a new company, with responsibility for its creation and development from origin, in a startup environment.
