We had a discussion on upcoming opportunities in the power sector, as well as the challenges of investing in the sector after the COVID-19 pandemic. Important issues include the impact on the upcoming power auction schedule and the Brazilian Federal Government policies. For example, the government created a COVID-19 account funded by domestic banks with the purpose of addressing possible short-term cash shortfalls faced by distribution companies.
The panel also discussed recent trends for development of renewable power projects in Brazil and expected changes in the power regulatory framework under the Federal Working Group for Modernization of the Power Sector.
