Technological advancements in the last ten years have led to a large increase in start-up companies, many of which help other start-ups take advantage of these technological breakthroughs across sectors and services. Years ago, Joseph Schumpeter described the process of technological advancement as creative destruction, destroying jobs in obsolete sectors and creating jobs in the new leader. We now talk about firms that practice creative destruction as “disruptors.” The Chamber is bringing together experts in creative disruption for a discussion of this process; concrete examples of disruptors, facilitators, incubators, and accelerators; and an examination of trends and prospects.
